Blog 5: Why a toddler needs a ride on toy.

We have already discussed why and how much a good ride-on toy is needed by young children who have just taken their first few steps.

Even though there areride-on toys available for various age groups, the Minjal 4WD ride- on is most suitable for children who have just learned to walk. Children generally begin to walk by the age of 1 year, therefore the Minjal Ride On is most suitable for children who are in the age group of 1- 2.5 years.

So as a child starts to walk he will benefit from a ride-on toy which is designed for moving and exploring around the house.

As the name suggests a ride- on toy aids mobility and is an integral part of their play.   A child sits or ‘rides’on it and it is very important they are in full control of the toy.

Mobility – Mobility under control.  A toddler needs to be mobile inside the house. A toddler has grown out of the the sit and play toys and wants to be on the move.

The 4WD seat is just knee high for the child.  i.e. a child can sit on it without help,  and get off on its own.  i.e. a child is not dependent on an adult to make him sit on the 4WD.

Yes  -a child definitely needs a ride on toy, but not just any ride on toy. One which has been designed considering the needs of his first year but can still be enjoyed as he gets older and bigger.

A child has its own daily routine which may or may not match with the parent’sroutine. If a child is comfortable doing something himself then he is going to get more enjoyments out of the toy.

4WD boosts a child’s confidence in mobility.   The design is such that it helps the child gain confidence in a small timespan. Getting this riding confidence is very important.

One of the common sites you see as your children grow and develop  is them carrying  their sit and play toys with them wherever they go  - maybe dragging them along. This observation is important for a parent as it may be the child’s way of telling you that that they have outgrown their toy and are in need of a new one. A toy that would help them mobilise and move around the house much better and be their exploratory and fun companion.

Imagine how an adult enjoys a car ride, comfort,  safetyand easy operation are important for us.   Similarly a child will enjoy and appreciate their play when given a 4wd.

A child can play with anything be it a ride on or not.   But is he enjoying the ride on toy to his maximum ability?  Once a toy becomes a favorite toy thechild  keeps playing with it.Even if the child has outgrown the toy.

Once  your  child has learnt to walk thelight exercise gained by riding on the 4WDhelps him greatly. The whole body and not just the hands get involved .All these different movements are very beneficial at this stage of their development.

Whenbuying a ride- on toy we should consider where it is going to be used.  Parentsoften  purchase a ride on toy without thinking it through and may end up with a toy best suited for being used outdoors when an indoor ride-on would have been much more practical and beneficial for the child.

As a parent we have think before purchasing what is important for a child.  Something which looks attractive to us will not necessarily be best for the child.  When  buying a ride on toy for toddlers the most important factor is that the toy should give riding confidence to the child.

This riding confidence will be demonstrated to you by the smile on your child’s face as he or she becomes an expert rider!
